                                                 Interview Game Plan

Before the Interview

  • Put together a list of references and recommendations. If you are a recent graduate your coaches and teachers will be great references.
  • Prepare a few copies of your resume.
  • Research the company and formulate questions.
  • Write out a list of your key skills and accomplishments.
  • Practice the interview.
  • Make sure you have a good outfit for the interview. You can never go wrong with a nice suit.
  • Check to make sure you have directions and know where to park.
  • A good night's sleep is important.
  • Arrive for the interview at least 10 minutes early.
  • Go into the restroom and give yourself one last look to make sure you look presentable


While waiting

  • Sit up in your chair and look confident. Imagine you are about to take the field and win the big game.
  • Don't over socialize and make sure not to smoke or chew gum.


During the interview

  • Introduce yourself with confidence and a firm handshake.
  • Keep eye contact and make sure to listen to what the interviewer is saying.
  • Always stay positive and keep a smile on your face.
  • Do not hesitate to ask questions.
  • Make sure you get business cards or contact information from the interviewers.
  • Thank them for the interview and ask for the job.


After the interview

  • Send a handwritten thank-you note.
  • If you have not gotten a response after a week, it is alright to make a follow up call.
